Important DSTHL Rule Change and Its Implications

Dear Texas Warriors Members,

We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you about a recent rule change implemented by the DSTHL, which impacts the tryout and player contract process for the upcoming season. We want to ensure that all our members are fully aware of these changes and understand how they may affect our teams.

New Rule Overview:

The new rule stipulates that if any team decides to conduct tryouts or sign player contracts during the designated AA tryout weekend, they will be required to play at the AA level during the Labor Day tournament. Should the league determine, based on the results of that tournament, that the team is not suitable to continue at the AA level for the season, the team will be moved down to the A-level. Consequently, the team will lose the privilege of holding tryouts on the AA weekend the following year.

Alternative Option:

Teams may choose not to hold tryouts or sign contracts on the AA weekend and instead opt to try out on the A weekend, promoting and advertising for AA. These teams will enter the leveling tournament at the AA level voluntarily. If the team does not level into AA through this route, they will not lose the privilege of trying out on AA weekend the following year.

Declaration Requirement:

Teams must declare their intention prior to the start of AA tryouts. An email must be sent to the league stating whether the team will not be conducting tryouts or signing contracts on AA weekend and will instead pursue a AA team by conducting tryouts and signing contracts on the alternative weekend.

We understand that the timing of this notification is quite short and poses a challenge for planning and decision-making. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we are doing our best to navigate these changes effectively.

The Texas Warriors will continue to advocate for all players to ensure equitable hockey development, accessibility to the sport, and fair play. We believe in providing every player with the opportunity to grow and succeed within a fair and competitive environment.

If you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this new rule, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support our members and ensure that everyone is well-informed about any changes that impact our organization.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support of the Texas Warriors Hockey Club.
