COACHING PHILOSOPHY

My goal is to give each player a positive hockey experience. This includes a strong work ethic, self-discipline, leadership skills, creativity, and in-depth knowledge of the game of hockey. Winning is not the goal, it is the result of these characteristics. My positive attitude on and off the ice fosters an atmosphere where players receive constructive criticism followed closely by positive reinforcement. I also keep parents informed and involved in their player’s development. My practices are run with a fast pace, high-flow system that simulates game speed as well as a focus on proper techniques in skating, passing, stick handling, and shooting. Most practices incorporate power skating, over-speed drills and complete systems training. I encourage each parent to have a positive attitude toward their player, team and referees. Parents should only criticizing a weak effort or lack of a hard work ethic. I create an atmosphere for the player and parent that promotes good sportsmanship toward teammates, opponents, and referees.
