This seasons coaching staff includes 5 returning and 4 new coaches with over 90 years combined coaching experience, over 20 years professional playing experience and 4 years NCAA D1 playing experience.  We have 2 coaches who have appeared in in the NHL, including the most recent, and one of only 5 EBUG’s to appear in NHL game action, Tom Hodges.  We have coaches from 6 different countries, including Canada, former Czechoslovakia, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Germany and the USA.  We have 3 head coaches who have earned their USA Hockey CEP Level 5 Master certification, one USHL Champion and one NCAA Big-10 All Star.

Previous accomplishments of our coaching staff includes appearances in 6 USAH National Championships with one National Champion, 8 League Champions and 15 State Champions.

The Texas Warriors believe that we have one of the most skilled and accomplished coaching staffs in the league and we are looking forward to competing in the upcoming 2022-2023 hockey season.

 


Anthony Booth – Back for his second year with the Warriors, Anthony Booth has had an extensive hockey coaching career.  As the founder/owner of Precision Hockey he has trained many skaters at the AAA level.  His coaching career started years before, in the mid 90’s and he has coached at many levels.  He has served as a scout for OneHockey International as well as on the Junior hockey level.  Anthony has coached teams to regional and state championships and has had several of his players commit to NCAA D1 and DIII programs.  Anthony is a USA Hockey CEP level 4 certified coach.

Sergey Deshevyy – From Kyiv Ukraine, Sergey has had one of the longest routes to coach for the Warriors.  His professional playing career spanned the UHL, CHL and the WPHL in North America; as well as the EEHL in Europe.  Sergey has coached in the DFW area since 2006 and has coached at virtually every level.  As a coach, Sergey has multiple League, State and National Championships to his credit.  Sergey is one of two coaches that have been with the Warriors since their inception in 2015.  Sergey has his USA Hockey CEP Level 5 Certification.

Kurtis Elofson – Growing up and playing hockey in southern California, Kurtis began coaching in-house/tournament teams in Aliso Viejo in 2014. Kurtis later coached club hockey at Gold Rush Hockey Club 2017 – 2020, making the playoffs each year.  He coached the Saddleback Rangers Varsity and JV from 2018 – 2020 and he also has provided lessons for skating, skill work and shooting.  Kurtis has also been an instructor for Barron Hockey Academy and the Champions Hockey Academy.  Kurtis has his USA Hockey CEP 4 level certification.

Christian Frey – Christian grew up playing his youth hockey here in Texas. After advancing through the ranks he was drafted to the USHL, where he would go on to play three seasons and win the Clark Cup, and Anderson Cup with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Christian then went on to play in College for the Ohio State University where he would amass First team all Big Ten, Second Team all Big Ten, and All Rookie Team in his 4 years there. After that Christian played 1 year professionally on an AHL contract with the Iowa wild and Rapid City Rush, and his second year with the Utah Grizzlies. Christian is now entering his 4th year coaching full time, and loves to give back to the hockey community where he was raised and his game developed. 

Tom Hodges – Tom grew up playing hockey in the DFW area, playing for the Texas Aces and Dallas Penguins organizations, as well as capturing a High School State Championship with Plano West in 2012.  After graduating, Tom did goaltending work for various pro teams, including serving as a Dallas Stars Emergency Goaltender since 2018.  In April 2022 Tom was called into service as the emergency goaltender, playing in net for the Anaheim Ducks Vs the Dallas Stars, in the last game of the regular season...earning 3rd star of the game honors.  Tom has been coaching goalies for over 5 years, originally working for Tom Speer of Elite Goalies.  This is Toms third season with the Texas Warriors.

Scott McKay – Scott grew up in southern Ontario playing youth hockey before moving on to play junior hockey with the Burlington Cougars.  After one year with Burlington, Scott was offered scholarships to several NCAA Division one schools, but decided to play with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.  He spent four seasons with the Knights, serving as a captain in three of the four seasons.  Scott scored 288 points in the 248 games he played with the Knights.  At the conclusion of his junior career, he signed a contract with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.  Scott played four seasons of professional hockey, playing games in the National Hockey League, International Hockey League, American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League, and Colonial Hockey League along with a season in Europe.  After retiring from hockey in 1998, he started coaching youth hockey in San Diego before moving to the Dallas area in 2007.  In Dallas, he has coached with the Dallas Stars Elite (Girls program), Hockey Club of Dallas / Texas Tigers and with the Texas Warriors.  His current position with the Warriors is as a skills coach.  He loves communicating and teaching the game of hockey and his passion for the game is infectious. This is Scotts fourth season with the Texas Warriors and he has his USA Hockey CEP Level 4 Certification.

Kevin Smith – As one of two coaches who have been with the Warriors since the beginning, Kevin is one of the most tenured and most accomplished Warriors coaches.  Kevin is currently the Warriors Hockey Director and has served as the clubs President in the past.  Kevin has several League, State and National Championships as a coach.  From 1993-97, Smith served as an equipment manager with the Dallas Stars, while he replicated those duties with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2000-01. His instructional experience includes positions at the Dallas Stars and World Class Hockey summer camps and he has his USA Hockey CEP level 5 certification.

Boris Vincze - Boris Vincze started his coaching career in the 1999-2000 season in Dallas, TX and has coached 1000+ games as a head coach in youth and junior select-travel level hockey in US.

He is USA Hockey Level 5 - Masters Coaching Education license holder and he also hold IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) Coaching certificates attending IIHF Coaching Symposiums in 2004,2015 Prague, Czech Republic and 2011 and 2019 Bratislava, Slovakia during the IIHF Hockey World Championship tournaments. Boris has played major and minor professional hockey in Slovakia, France, Sweden and the USA and he has played more than 250 professional games. Prior to his professional career, he played five seasons of Major Junior hockey in former Czechoslovakia in his hometown of Zilina, Slovakia.

Boris is a professional instructor at DALLAS STARS STAR CENTERS in the DFW area coaching and conducting hockey programs, clinics and private lessons focusing on teaching transferable individual player's hockey skills and long term player development.  He’s also a STAR CENTERS X-Treme Team pro coach as well as USA HOCKEY coach developer with Rocky Mountain District and TAHA teaching USA HOCKEY Coaching Education Program.   This is Boris’ first season with the Texas Warriors.
