Chris Burns
Coach Burns was born and raised in Canada and has been involved in competitive hockey for most of his life. He enjoyed a successful junior hockey career, highlighted by a Canadian National Championship in 1992 and being drafted by the San Jose Sharks that same year. He went on to attend Denver University on a hockey scholarship, where he continued to compete at a high level until an injury brought his playing career to an early end in 1994.
After a brief hiatus from the game, Coach Burns began coaching in 2002, focusing on youth development at the 8U and 10U levels in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Upon relocating to Texas in 2017, he joined the McKinney North Stars as a goalie coach before stepping into the role of Head Coach for the 12AA team. Last season marked his first with the Texas Warriors, where he led the 16A team with dedication and leadership.
For the upcoming season, Coach Burns is excited to guide the Warriors 14A team, helping the core group of players navigate their transition into full-contact hockey while continuing their technical and personal development.
Coach Burns resides in Celina, Texas, with his wife Chelsea. They have two sons: Jaxson (22), currently in his fourth year of veterinary school at Tarleton State University, and Dane, a 2024 draft pick of the Kansas City Royals who now pitches for Mississippi State University.
